Trees are cool! That’s why we decided to plant them.

ZOKU is excited to share more about our Trees Are Cool campaign, which sees one tree planted on your behalf for every purchase of a ZOKU Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel bottle or tumbler. This exciting initiative is made possible through the launch of our new partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, the global restoration network which has planted more than half a billion trees across 232 projects sites globally.

Trees Keep the Earth Cool

By choosing to use a ZOKU bottle, you are not only helping to keep single-use plastic out of the landfill, but also giving back to the planet! One of our favorite tree facts is that a fully grown tree can exchange more than 48 pounds of atmospheric carbon dioxide for oxygen in a single year, a process which can help lower Earth’s temperature.

Of course, trees keep the earth “cool” in many other ways, too: They provide shady habitats for plants and animals, protect land and shorelines from erosion, and beautify landscapes — just to name a few!

Reforestation Helps Local Communities

We feel strongly about working with Eden Reforestation Projects because of their mission to reduce poverty by employing local communities to oversee planting efforts. To date, this practice has created more than 5.8 million workdays. Creating jobs is especially valuable in areas where rapid deforestation has led to an increase in topsoil erosion which threatens farmers’ ability to grow food and make money.

Of course, human communities aren’t the only ones who benefit from reforestation. In vulnerable ecosystems like mangrove forests, which normally serve as protective breeding grounds for birds and marine life, reforestation efforts serve to rehabilitate crucial wildlife sanctuaries.

Trees Are a Part of Everyday Life

In addition to environmental protection, trees provide materials for countless products we use every day. Our homes, furniture, sports equipment, and musical instruments can all be made from wood. They even provide a sturdy place to tie a hammock to, or a quiet retreat to play an acoustic guitar under.
