10 Ways Coloring Benefits Kids

10 Ways Coloring Benefits Kids

By Senior Graphic Designer at Zoku

I absolutely love being an Aunt to my two nephews. We have a special bond that words can’t explain. Right now, it’s tough being away from them with everything going on in the world. Luckily, I am able to FaceTime with them weekly to see how they are doing.

One thing I know about my nephews is they love to color. Coloring has been a great way to use their creativity. Coloring can also be a great stress relief for children and adults. By focusing on the page, your brain is able to drift away from your thoughts. I wanted to share a list of benefits coloring can have on kids.

Benefits:*

  • Improve Motor Skills

  • Prepares Them for School

  • Stimulates Creativity

  • Contributes to Better Handwriting

  • Color Awareness, Recognition and Discernment

  • Improved Focus and Hand to Eye Coordination

  • Boundaries, Structure and Spatial Awareness

  • Improved Confidence

  • Self-Expression

  • Therapy and Stress Relief

FAMILY BONDING & COLORING

I wanted to do something special for my nephews to bring a smile to their face and to let them know I am thinking of them. I created four coloring pages for them and wanted to share with you too. I used the characters from our Flip Straw Bottles as inspiration. My nephews said their favorite character was the one they referred to as “Baby Shark.”

Here are the coloring pages you can download. Print out the pages or download to your favorite coloring app.

Coloring is a great opportunity to spend some time with your little ones. It’s a calming, relaxing activity and a great way to bond. I hope this helps bring some happiness and stress relief to your family.

MAKE UP A STORY

As a fun bonus, come up with a story for the characters and turn it into a book. First, your child can draw extra pages to tell the character's story. Next, have them make a cover for the book. Finally when the cover is finished, bind the book together.

Ideas for Binding:

1. Staple the sides together then put colored duct tape along the side

2. Hole punch the sides then use pipe cleaners or yarn to secure the pages

3. Use binder clips to secure the pages together

4. Hole punch the corners and use book ring

Share your final creations with @zokuhq on your favorite social media platform. We are excited to see what you come up with! Happy creating!
